Trakker combines the performance and robustness of a construction vehicle with the comfort of an on-road chassis. Trakker uses advanced technology giving it exceptional reliability with features to suit all type of terrain and usage.

Born from a concept that is as simple as it is effective, Trakker fulfills the needs of the driver to the maximum.

Without giving up on the strength and reliability required from a truck that works on difficult terrains and carries heavy loads, Trakker optimises productivity.

Range

TrakkerLife in the on/off-road construction sector is tough: extreme environments, challenging problems, working conditions at the limit. Trakker can take it all – it’s a guarantee for those who put their trust in it.

Trakker blends performance and rugged design with leading edge technology to give the traditional dependability that has always characterised Iveco’s heavyweights.

Trakker was designed to guarantee the best results and to perform the most varied applications in the on/off-road construction sector. It offers a highly specialised solution for every task - from handling materials in the quarry to transporting concrete, from working as a snow plough to carrying exceptional loads.

TrakkerThe widest possible range of variants cover all possible operating applications, thanks to a comprehensive range of engines (from 270 to 440 HP) and configurations (4x4, 6x4, 6x6, 8x4, rigids and 6x4 tractors).

3 and 4-axle models are available in two versions: with a 7.7mm frame, ideal for customers who use their vehicles primarily on-road, and with a 10mm frame, for the toughest off-road applications.

There are also specific 6x4 and 8x4 versions for concrete mixers.

Engine

TrakkerTrakker is offered with either Cursor 8 and Cursor 13 engines, with a choice of six different power outputs: 270, 310, 350 & 380 HP, and 440 & 480 HP respectively. Cursor 8 was designed mainly for on-road use on vehicles that need a low kerb weight. The 12.9 litre Cursor 13 comes into its own on more demanding operations: huge reserves of torque - available even at low engine revs - guarantee superb performance, on and off-road.

With a variable geometry turbocharger, these two engines share the same specification, except for the Cursor 13 @ 380 HP, which has a waste-gated turbocharger.

Performance

The use of Cursor engines on Trakker has a decisive influence on the vehicle’s performance and productivity.

Cursor 8 and Cursor 13 both have one feature that makes all the difference on site: high torque available at low engine speeds, and over a wide spread. That simplifies hill starts and guarantees the right amount of power output, excellent driveability and low fuel consumption.

Another strong point is the standard engine brake which delivers a deceleration capacity of between 220Kw/min (Cursor 8) and 300Kw/min (Cursor 13).

Cabs

TrakkerA Trakker driver feels like he’s on board a Stralis, because the Active Day (AD) and Active Time (AT) Stralis cabs now equip Trakker too.

That means styling and comfort are combined with the specific requirements of an off-road construction vehicle.

The AD cab is designed for day-to-day operations, whilst the AT cab, with standard or high roof, is suitable for applications that require the driver to sleep on board overnight, because it’s equipped with a choice of one or two bunks.

Cabs, 2.3 metres wide, are compact, and this gives Trakker a number of advantages on-site. It simplifies manoeuvring in tight spaces and reduces the risk of the cab corners hitting obstacles. Its non-slip access steps have been redsigned, to make it safer to get in and out of the cab.

Trakker’s steel bumper is built in three parts to reduce the cost of replacement in the event of a collision. It was redesigned with rounded corners to harmonise with the curves of the front part of the cab. The halogen headlights are recessed into the bumper profile for protection, and are covered by a removable grille.

Comfort

With the AT/AD cab, Trakker offers a new concept of comfort and more enjoyable driving, combining ergonomics and technological innovation.

To maximise comfort no matter what the demands, Trakker has a sturdy, but comfortable cab suspension system that’s designed to absorb the stress of the most uneven terrain.

TrakkerThe driver can customise the driving position as he wishes: Trakker’s air-suspended seat and height and rake-adjustable steering wheel adapt to create the ideal and most comfortable driving position. Visibility is excellent, so even the most complicated manoeuvres can be performed in total safety. There are numerous storage compartments too: from bottle holders to lockers on the rear bulkhead. And a number of other practical features simplify life on board, like a clipboard that fits onto the steering wheel.

Insulation and soundproofing keep physical fatigue to a minimum, even after hours on the go, thanks to new materials and improved insulation.

Because Trakker is designed to operate on rough terrain, maximising stability and minimising engine noise reduces stress on the driver and improves the quality of his driving – that means greater safety.

And on journeys lasting several days, the driver can enjoy the highest level of comfort offered by the optional cab air suspension, as available on the Stralis Active Time tractor.
Safety

TrakkerSafety is a pre-requisite for all on/off-road construction vehicles.

Trakker can boast an extremely efficient braking system and standard safety features that guarantee maximum protection in all circumstances, even on the most demanding operations.

6x4 and 8x4 Trakkers are fitted with disc brakes on the front and drum brakes on the rear. The front drive axles of 4x4 and 6x6 models are fitted with drum brakes.

Braking effort is apportioned depending on the load on the rear axle. ABS sensors on the wheels detect any tendency to lock when braking, and modulate the pressure delivered to the brake cylinders. This system, known as EBL (Electronic Braking Limitation) is a huge step forward compared to mechanical braking effort correction, particularly when the flexibility of the suspension is limited.

All Cursor engines are fitted with the ITB (Iveco Turbo Brake) brake. The efficiency of this is boosted by the effect of the variable geometry turbocompressor on Cursor 8 and Cursor 13 engines (440 HP). The ZF Intarder is available as an option on 12 and 16 speed gearboxes.

Driveline

TrakkerTorque and power are delivered to the ground via Trakker’s hugely efficient driveline.

Automated gearboxes are managed by a system that guarantees rapid gear changes for maximum performance, and a wide range of rear axle ratios makes it possible to choose the version that’s most suitable for the use the vehicle will be put to, so optimising fuel economy.

The range of mechanical gearboxes extends from a 9-speed unit for smaller engines, up to a 16-speed unit, with Servoshift on models from 350 HP up.

The range of EuroTronic 2 automated gearboxes offers two 12-speed Overdrive versions for Cursor 13, and a direct drive unit for Cursor 8.

Rapid gear engagement and a system that allows the driver to choose easily between automatic and semiautomatic operation, means that he always uses the right ratio in all circumstances, with benefits in terms of driveability, fuel consumption and clutch wear.

Another important feature is Manoeuvring Mode. This is activated by a pushbutton on the dashboard and allows the automated gearbox to regulate clutch use more accurately in low gears and reverse, via the accelerator pedal. Just the kind of technological assistance that’s needed for manoeuvres in particularly tight corners.

Trakker’s rear axles are either single or double reduction with epicyclic gears inside the wheel hubs, a set-up that limits the size of the differential housing and increases ground clearance. All rear axles are fitted with a differential lock, whilst tandem also have a cross-axle differential lock. A wide range of rear axle ratios ensures that the driver is able to choose the most correct configuration for his vehicle, so optimising fuel consumption. Front axles are fitted with ventilated disc brakes, whilst drive axles and rear axles are fitted with Duo-Duplex drum brakes.

Chassis

Careful component layout on the chassis and the use of hub reduction rear axles ensure excellent camber and departure angles and high ground clearance. That ensures Trakker can overcome any obstacle and guarantees easy manoeuvring in even the tightest of spaces.

TrakkerThe chassis of all 6x4 and 8x4 models is made of constant section, high yield steel rails, either 7.7 mm or 10 mm depending on the model. In the latter, suspension anchorage points have been reinforced.

The chassis is 1.03 m wide at the front to take large dimension radiators, and 0.77 m at the rear to simplify assembly of all kinds of bodies and equipment.

The chassis rails are fitted with either bolted bracket or plates on which body subframes can be attached.
