The evolving market, customers’ needs and environmental demands:
Iveco has always taken all this into consideration when it designs its vehicles.

They are elements that have played an important role in the development of the Stralis range, which introduces a number of important innovations in 2007.

The entire heavy range can boast the same features of safety, design and comfort, and all the vehicles are equipped with Cursor engines, the benchmark in terms of reliability, low consumption, and high torque power.

Stralis AS

StralisThe powerful, reliable new Stralis AS3 range has engines that adopted cutting edge technologies to achieve excellent performance, high constant torque values, low consumption and very low emissions (Euro 5 OBD 2007 versions are already available as standard, well in advance of the legislative requirement). The restyling focused primarily on the cab and was undertaken to increase productivity for the customer and to reduce running costs, thanks to a broad commercial range that meets all long-term transport requirements.

The high level of technology behind the design made it possible to combine safety, reliability and durability, offering customers fast vehicles with aggressive styling and state-of-the-art practicality: elements that make the Stralis the new benchmark for the market.

Engines

The Cursor engines are the heart of the Stralis. They are powerful and reliable, designed to guarantee excellent performance and low running costs, as well as superior comfort on the road thanks to their extraordinary flexibility. The Stralis AS3 is available with the 450 Hp Cursor 10 and the 500 and 560 Hp Cursor 13 engines.

The combination of cutting edge engineering and electronics makes these engines a benchmark in terms of performance, consumption, maintenance costs and durability.

Cab

StralisThe cab is the real innovation on the new Stralis AS3 Iveco. The exterior and the interior were redesigned with the goal of anticipating the requirements of customers who demand the maximum in terms of ergonomics and quality of life on board, even for long-haul missions.

The Stralis will take you anywhere, with personality and character, so that you always feel right at home.

External Features

There are numerous innovations on the outside of the cab: a new grille, redesigned bumpers, and an innovative look for the front light clusters which extends to the new design of the side panels and two large storage boxes. The captivating design is completed by the new aerodynamic kit, which has been completely redesigned and modified to keep drag to a minimum.

Internal Features

The ergonomic evolution of the new Stralis focused on making the driver comfortable. For example, seats for the driver and the passenger that now provide better longitudinal adjustment (+40 mm), enhanced visibility of the instrument cluster with white rear lighting: or the ergonomics of the driving position that have been improved by positioning the controls for the engine brake, Intarder and gear selector on the steering wheel. The space inside the cab has also been redesigned and increased, with the goal of creating an environment with class-beating functionality.

Comfort

The new cab is roomy and welcoming, an ideal working environment even for long-haul missions. Every element has been designed to guarantee a high quality of life on board.

The pneumatic steering wheel adjustment system, for example, allows the driver to find an ideal driving position, while the new instrument panel, rear-lit in white, allows him to monitor all the main functions; the comprehensive multifunction central display provides the driver with important information in real time: from the air pressure in the braking circuit to the axle loads, maintenance deadlines and infotainment. The controls grouped around (cruise control, retarder, external lights) and on the steering wheel (controls for the scrolling menu of the onboard computer and radio) allows the driver to concentrate on the road, reducing reaction times to unexpected situations, and thus enhancing safety.

Visibility is always excellent thanks to the sweeping windscreen, the shape of the external sunvisor and the large mirrors that can be electrically adjusted from inside the cab.

Top quality materials, that are attractive to look at and are durable, were used for the facia, which wraps around conveniently for the driver.

The Stralis AS3 creates a comfortable working environment for the driver, even when external conditions are unfavourable, thanks to the efficient climate system and the excellent level of soundproofing.

The result is a pleasant, safe driving experience, worthy of a flagship vehicle.

Driveline

StralisThe Stralis range is already in line with Euro 5 emission legislation, well ahead of the legislative deadline of 2009.

To achieve this extraordinary result, which is underlined right on the vehicles by the new “E5” logo on the side, the Cursor engines adopt SCR technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction), a post-treatment system for exhaust gases.

Selective Catalytic Reduction envisages the use of highly efficient engines with a catalyst instead of the usual silencer and a special tank for the AdBlue, which is injected upstream of the catalyst by an electronically managed metering system.

The range of gearboxes offered on the Stralis Active Space3 enable the customer to find the best solution for his professional needs, according to the type of vehicle chosen. Iveco adopts the best components and technologies on the market to transfer all the power of the Cursor engines to the drive wheels. The gearbox offered on the Stralis AS3 is a 12-speed automated unit.

The Arvin Meritor rear axles were designed to meet all the needs of heavy road transport. Renowned for their exceptional resistance and low maintenance, they are available in simple and double reduction versions to guarantee maximum reliability even for the most demanding missions. The front axle has a steering lock of 52°, which is a great advantage for anyone in the delivery business.

There is a wide range of rear axle ratios that are suitable when travelling fully laden on motorways and main roads: long ratios are recommended on level terrain, with medium loads and for less difficult missions, while “shorter” ratios are suitable for more demanding routes where more traction is required, such as mountain routes or with a full load.

Chassis

The sturdiness and ease of bodying of the chassis, the reliability of the braking system fitted with innovative electronic devices that help in emergency conditions, the outstanding flexibility of the air and mechanical suspension, and the cutting-edge technology of the electronic systems make the Stralis an extraordinarily efficient vehicle, that guarantees optimal performance on all types of route.

Equipped with electronic devices that come into play in emergency situations, the Stralis range tops the market in terms of active safety, boasting excellent performance, both for road behaviour and for braking.

The Cursor engines offer a decompression brake (the Iveco Turbo Brake), which increases the efficiency of the braking when it is used in conjuction with the variable geometry turbo.

StralisThe force of the engine brake guarantees maximum safety downhill, making it less necessary to use the service brake, also saving on brake pad and disc wear.

All the Stralis vehicles are fitted with disc brakes at the front and rear, controlled electronically by the EBS (Electronic Braking System) control unit which governs the ABS (Antilock Braking System), ASR (Anti Slip Regulation) and EBL (Electronic Brake force Limitation) functions, backing up the engine brake and the Intarder which are activated automatically to minimise service brake wear and to decelerate the vehicle in a manner suited to the driving conditions.
